Hot off the press! Read our NEW STUDY "The Ketogenic Diet for Refractory Mental Illness: A Retrospective Analysis of 31 Inpatients." We just published the pioneering work of my colleague, French psychiatrist Dr. Albert Danan, who placed 31 of his most seriously ill patients with major depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia on a ketogenic diet in a medically supervised hospital setting. Symptoms of depression and psychosis improved in all 28 participants who stayed on the diet, with 43% achieving clinical remission. The paper, authored by Drs. Albert Danan, Eric Westman, Laura Saslow, and myself, was published July 6, 2022 in Frontiers in Psychiatry and is open access, so the full text is freely available for everyone to read, including the description of the diet he used, which you can find in the supplemental data section.
